I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles.   I use the word ‘raised’ loosely, as I was a typical latch-key kid of the 80’s. Currently, my life has taken me to the Westside, in a neighborhood known as Mar Vista; a few miles East of Venice Beach. I share a lovely home with one amazing housemate, and my 14 year old Chihuahua, Carmen. Often you will find me painting abstract art in my studio, located in the Culver City Arts District. You are welcome to view my artwork here: https://www.facebook.com/JackieLeighArt. My passions lean towards all things creative. I enjoy painting, interior design, architecture, performing arts, vintage furniture, mid-century decor, Frank Lloyd Wright ‘stuff’, and literature (reading and writing).  I’m an outgoing introvert, but I genuinely enjoy meeting new people; I tend to make friends easily. I smile, laugh a lot, and possess an innate affectionate nature (I’m a hugger!) I’ve been told that I have a wicked (sometimes twisted) sense of humor. I use it often to mask my diabolical evil nature, and debilitating insecurities. Beyond taking Improv classes, and performing stand-up comedy, I served in the U.S. Army as a Veteran of the Gulf War.  I follow a plant-based diet, and practice Mindfulness mediation. It keeps me sane (at least my version of it). Semi-fluent in American Sign Language, and 6 units shy of a second BA in Cultural Anthropology, my Bachelor degree is in English Literature from California State University Northridge (CSUN). I can’t quote anything from Shakespeare. I do however, know all the words to Bohemian Rhapsody (even the chorus). You may not be impressed by my mediocre credentials, or remotely interested in anything I intend to blog about, but my 18 units in cultural crap taught me that…you are going to read it anyway.
